Sometimes I think I should just quit

On my other site, I get a lot of haters. Spammers. Ads for cancer-curing pills, ads for vacuum cleaners, ads for used automobiles, ads, ads, ads.
I think, personally, is that the root of the problem are the Matmice and Freewebs people who have sites that mostly consist of myspace glitter and feel they have the authority to tell me that my domain wordpress site is utter compost. Although I happen to know that they don’t know what they’re talking about, and that just because they are older than me in real life (everyone seems to be older than me in real life) it doesn’t mean that they can boss me about and generally make me feel like dirt. But they do.
I don’t mind nearly so much if the people in question have better sites than me. In that case, I take it as advice, and follow it. But I’ll just present a parallel here of the haters with “advice” that I get.
Imagine being told by your mother’s friend that you can’t dance. Well, she can’t either. In fact, she is so stiff she couldn’t dance if she were held at gunpoint, let alone for pleasure. But here she is, telling you what to do. You may not be any Darcey Bussel but you’ve been taking lessons and your teacher says you’re making progress. So it’s plenty infuriating.
I always present this to people but they never seem to grasp that being told what to do by people who can’t do it is NOT the same as being told what to do by a pro.
And it happens a lot.
So I should quit.
Wouldn’t you?
